South Holston
The South Holston river has a huge population of wild brown trout. This river boasts more than 6,000 trout per mile. The brown trout stocking was ended in 2002. Resulting in a naturally reproducing brown trout fishery. The South Holston flows approximately 13 miles from South Holston Dam to Boone Lake in Bluff City. The South Holston is famous for it's huge sulphur hatches and wild trophy brown trout. This is one of the more technical rivers in the country. Stealthy presentations with long leaders, light tippet, and small flies is a must. We typically float the South Holston on high water, meaning during generation or sluiceing from South Holston Dam.
